Google shows zero-downtime migration from older embeddings to Gemini in AlloyDB AI
Google Cloud has published a blue-green migration pattern for changing embedding models in AlloyDB AI without stopping live semantic-search traffic. Its example moves from text-embedding-005 to Gemini Embedding 001, using auto embeddings, concurrent ScaNN index creation, a canary phase and atomic column renaming so stored vectors and query generation switch together.
