What is Gemini Notebook

Google has renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook. It remains Google’s source-grounded research and learning workspace: users add documents, websites, audio, and other sources, then chat with that material or generate outputs such as Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, reports, study aids, and mind maps.

Pricing

As of October 9, 2026, Gemini Notebook Standard is free with a Gmail account. Google’s consumer upgrades are sold through Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra; prices and storage bundles vary by billing country. Google’s official English-language plan page currently lists Google AI Pro at US$19.99 per month or US$199.99 per year in supported US-dollar regions.

Standard supports 100 notebooks with 50 sources per notebook. Plus raises those structural limits to 200 notebooks and 100 sources per notebook. Pro supports 500 notebooks and 300 sources per notebook, while the two current Ultra storage variants support 500 notebooks and either 500 or 600 sources per notebook.

Google changed Gemini Notebook usage limits on September 2, 2026. Chat and Studio generation are now governed by compute-based allowances that consider prompt complexity, model and feature choice, chat length, and the requested generation. The allowance refreshes every five hours until a weekly limit is reached. Plus provides twice the Standard allowance, Pro four times the Standard allowance, and Ultra either five or 20 times the Pro allowance depending on the subscription.

Model footprint

Gemini Notebook is powered by Gemini models, but Google sells it through plan-level access and compute allowances rather than per-token model pricing. Paid plans add higher model access and earlier or priority access to major features; Pro and Ultra also remove watermarks in most regions.
