What is OpenRouter
OpenRouter provides one API for accessing models from multiple providers, with routing, fallbacks and provider selection managed through a unified account.
Pricing
As of September 5, 2026, OpenRouter offers Free, Pay-as-you-go and Enterprise routes. Free exposes more than 25 free models with a 50-request daily limit. Pay-as-you-go has no minimum spend, provides access to more than 400 models from over 70 providers and charges the live model rate plus a 5.5% platform fee when credits are purchased. Enterprise uses volume commitments and can include fee discounts, invoicing, policy enforcement, SSO/SAML, service-level agreements and a shared support channel.
OpenRouter says underlying inference prices are passed through without markup. The current plan page lists fee-free BYOK allowance up to US$25,000 of list-price inference per month on Pay-as-you-go and US$200,000 on Enterprise, with a 5% fee above those limits.
Included capabilities
The service includes a unified API, model and provider routing, usage tracking and access to free models where offered. Model rates and availability change independently, so buyers should confirm the live model catalogue before estimating production spend.
