What is Runway
Runway is an AI video and media platform for creators and teams producing generative video, image, and audio content. It is best known for turning state-of-the-art generative models into a practical production workflow.
Runway matters commercially because it blends subscription-based creator plans, credit-based usage, and a separate developer API. Buyers therefore need to look at both creative plan features and how credits translate into actual output volumes.
Core offerings
- Generative video, image, and audio tools across Runway’s creative platform.
- Tiered creator plans built around monthly credit allocations.
- Higher-end plan features such as custom voices, larger storage, and roll-over credits.
- Enterprise options with SSO, analytics, teamspaces, and onboarding support.
Pricing
As of July 19, 2026, Runway’s official pricing page lists Free at US$0 per month with a one-time 125-credit allocation, Standard at US$12 per month when billed annually or US$15 monthly, Pro at US$28 per month when billed annually or US$35 monthly, Max at US$76 per month when billed annually or US$95 monthly, and Enterprise as custom pricing.
Free includes 125 one-time credits, limited projects, and 5GB of storage. Standard includes 625 monthly credits, all AI image and video models, 4K upscaling, no watermarks, and 125GB of storage. Pro increases the monthly pool to 2,250 credits, adds custom voices for lip sync and text to speech, and increases storage to 500GB. Max raises usage to 9,500 monthly credits, allows up to one month of unused credit rollover, offers first access to new models, and is positioned for heavy production use.
Enterprise adds custom credit packages, SSO, workspace analytics, configurable teamspaces, enterprise onboarding, priority support, and custom team sizing. Runway’s developer docs separately state that API credits are purchased at US$0.01 per credit, with media generation costs varying by model and output type.
Model footprint
Runway’s public pricing emphasises model access through the product rather than by exposing one simple internal model roster. The practical buying lens is credit efficiency, model availability by tier, and whether your workflow is creator-facing or API-driven.
Why select Runway
Runway is worth shortlisting when AI video production is central and you need a platform that bridges experimentation and production. It is especially relevant for creative teams that care about model breadth, output volume, and enterprise collaboration controls in one product.
