OpenAI Retires ChatGPT Atlas as Its AI Browser Strategy Shifts to Apps and Agents
OpenAI will retire ChatGPT Atlas on 9 August 2026, less than a year after launching its standalone AI browser. Its technology will live on through a new ChatGPT desktop app, Chrome side panel and cloud browser designed for autonomous AI agents.
