Microsoft has embedded conversational chat into Microsoft 365 Copilot Search for Windows and the web. The October release lets search results become grounded context for follow-up questions, synthesis and content creation, reducing the need to move between separate discovery and chat experiences when working with organisational knowledge.
Cohere has released Embed 5 in Pro and Fast tiers for multilingual, multimodal enterprise retrieval. Both models support 128,000-token inputs and share an embedding space, allowing organisations to index with Pro and query with Fast. General availability spans Cohere’s API, Model Vault, Microsoft Foundry and Amazon SageMaker.
Cohere has opened a limited private beta of Compass Cloud, a managed version of its enterprise search and retrieval platform. Developers can use APIs, an MCP server or a Python SDK while Cohere operates the pipeline and model inference. Self-hosted Compass remains available. Buyers should test relevance, access controls, latency and data-location requirements before moving production retrieval.
AWS has made Amazon Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base generally available as a managed retrieval service for agents and generative AI applications. It combines native enterprise connectors, multimodal parsing, managed storage, access controls and iterative agentic retrieval without requiring customers to assemble a separate vector-search stack.
